“Living Of Love”
For just one chance to find
Love was someone that you loved to find
For just the sense to try
To walk ahead and leave the pain behind
If the days aren’t easy and the nights are rough
When they ask you what you’re thinking of
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Your heart says not again
What kind of mess have you got me in
But when the feelings there
It can lift you up and take you anywhere
But the gravel beneath you and the limbs above
If anybody asks you where your coming from
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say yes we live uncertainty
And disappointments have to be
And everyday we might be facing more
And yes we live in desperate times
But fading words and shaking rhymes
There’s only one thing here worth hoping for
With Lucifer beneath you and God above
If either one of them asks you what your living of
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love

Hey…now I’m feeling all melancholy. That song is beautiful. Absolutely nothing sounds like Dylan, but somehow listening to it makes me think of early Dylan. Odd.
Can I borrow (steal) the lyrics for my own blog? They are perfectly lovely.
Happy New Year, old friend. Bygones?
xoxoxo
true…love
The stunning lyricism of Avett’s Emotionalism has only become more powerful for me over the last eight months. They’re funny too.
thanks for that. I like the banjo and the harmonies. Sort of a modern day Del McCoury.
Good attitude to carry into a new year.
Was intrigued by a song they did on a late night show - “Paranoia in B Major” - and the Emotionalism album was featured where I do most of my listening shortly after. Spent some time on them then - mostly sticking to the new album - “Nothing Short of Thankful” being an exception. Their lyrics do evoke strong images. Hadn’t listened to them again until now. Thanks for the reminder.
Happy New Year, dear Shouter! You speak to us weaving your tapestry from the art -the words the notes of others-expertly assembling your messages and sharing your heart. Thanks for making these last years so much more fun than they could have been w/o you — and yes I do love that tune as well. It’s all part of saying “YES”. At a point in my life when adding to my inner circle was not something I planned to do — you snuck in… “but don’t think twice, it’s alright”.
Walked into the room where my DH had the radio on and this old song was playing
It just registered with me today for some reason - - or maybe it’s simply the serious overdose of Dayquil in my system - -
Turn, Turn, Turn by The Byrds
To every thing, turn, turn, turn
There is a season, turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
To everything, turn, turn, turn
There is a season, turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together
To everything, turn, turn, turn
There is a season, turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing
To everything, turn, turn, turn
There is a season, turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late
Hope everyone had a good start to the brand new year - - looking forward to more of your shared knowledge Shouter - for some reason I actually pay attention in “class” here
Nice song. Happy New Year!
I love Emotionalism. I’ve only had it for a few weeks and I love it.
I just got a CD yesterday that I love already but I’ve heard the material over many years in live venues in Austin. Jon Dee Graham - Swept Away. It’s a live soundtrack to a yet to be released documentary. Jon’s studio CDs are good but they don’t capture the essence of his live performance like Swept Away. I saw him perform a couple of nights ago at the Saxon Pub and it was great. porterdavis also performed and they were great too. I don’t get out to see live music enough lately.

I love the CD, Live at Eddie’s Attic by porterdavis. It’s in my top 2 CDs of last year. Amy Winehouse Back to Black is the other.
Hmmm…what else has piqued my interest lately?
Iron and Wine - The Shepard’s Dog

Their live shows are now available for download
I haven’t see them live unfortunately.
Dumpstaphunk - I saw them live at Tipitina’s in New Orleans and at the Parish in Austin. Ivan said that he lives in Austin now so I hope to see more of them. They are so funky and urban. I can’t think of a band I’d rather see live than them right now, oh wait, except for Led Zepplin.
I just found out that Grace Potter and Nocturnals have a show coming up at Stubbs. I will be there for sure.
I love this song — it’s going on my next mix.
Are you on another hiatus?
Hey, I miss your bloggings.
How ’bout some Best Wishes for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day?
