“Now Is Better Than Before”
“I Was Dancing In The Lesbian Bar”
“Version 2″
“New England”
From the comments . . .
Pay attention kids - irony free. You wont see its like again. In its way, as radical as The Stooges or The Pistols - while they flew in the face of everything that came BEFORE them, Jonathan Richmans’s lack of cynicism flew in the face of everything which came AFTER.
Do I like Rock Videos? Not on your life!

I hereby proclaim May 12th, Jonathan Richman Day!
That second version of Lesbian Bar is classic Jonathan. Seeing him live is 60 to 90 minutes of that, and it is a BLAST! Bet you’ve seen him once or more up there in New England, no? You would enjoy “Dialogue About Bermuda” from Having a Party with Jonathan Richman…check it out!
Yes, I’ve seen Jonathon five or six times. Always a great show. I saw him perform once in London as well and the audience loved it.
My favorite show might have been an in-store at Newbury Comics, home of the cool. Jonathon simply walked in unannounced, stood by the cash register with his guitar and started playing. No setup, no announcement no nothing. Kind of the anti James McMurtry.
I’m a new fan! Gracias!
I love Jonathan Richman, but somehow a little of him goes a long way. He does rock.
On a related note, Dexter Romweber is playing this Friday night at the Fabulous Forty Watt. You need to be there. He’s got sister SARA on drums. Just the two of them. Shall I call you with a cellcert? I will, you know…

Enjoy, and eat your heart out. Oh…and it’s NEXT Friday, so you’ve got plenty of time.
You know Dex and Crow lived in a gardening shed behind some people’s house in Athens back in the day (post this video) and they called it “Heartbreak Hotel”. They put a sign outside that said “Lonely Street.” What a guy.
Sorry to hijack your thread like this. Sometimes I get carried away.
Finally had time to explore - found songs I knew & a minor Maine connection - a poetess told me this is a good place to write - that the muses live close to the earth here
” I just make up stuff that already happened ”
The interview video led to some Tom Waits - and I have no will power left by the weekend so . . . . TY for the fun - - again
