You know Dex and Crow lived in a gardening shed behind some people’s house in Athens back in the day (post this video) and they called it “Heartbreak Hotel”. They put a sign outside that said “Lonely Street.” What a guy.

I love Jonathan Richman, but somehow a little of him goes a long way. He does rock.

On a related note, Dexter Romweber is playing this Friday night at the Fabulous Forty Watt. You need to be there. He’s got sister SARA on drums. Just the two of them. Shall I call you with a cellcert? I will, you know…

Yes, I’ve seen Jonathon five or six times. Always a great show. I saw him perform once in London as well and the audience loved it.

My favorite show might have been an in-store at Newbury Comics, home of the cool. Jonathon simply walked in unannounced, stood by the cash register with his guitar and started playing. No setup, no announcement no nothing. Kind of the anti James McMurtry.
