Next up on the pretend girlfriend list is Zooey Deschanel. Why? How can I resist a girl who guest stars in my new favorite show “Weeds” who also covers a Richard and Linda Thompson song with M. Ward and who can actually sing? I mean really?

Zooey is one of my FAVS!

Love her in everything she’s in.

She even was in a free iTunes movie download “Raving,” which was directed by Julia Stiles. Though “Raving” was a bit meh…Zooey was great.

“Elf,” “Hitchhiker’s Guide,” “Mumford,” “Failure to Launch,” “The Good Girl”…she’s great in everything.

And, yes, she can sing. Her rendition of “Cold Outside” in “Elf” is one of my all-time favorite movie moments.

    Plus…she’s an absolute doll.

Great pic for new pretend girlfriend.

Ahhhhhhhh Zooey. See while many were waxing poetic over Ms. Johannson, I believe the multifaceted Deschanel is the true stay with us gal. How I want her to play Keely Smith to John Favreau’s Louie Prima. What can I say…when I have free time I play the casting game. I have had THIS one on the books since 2004.

Shrew! You said:” How I want her to play Keely Smith to John Favreau’s Louie Prima.”

and I just have to second that and third it and forth it. SHE WOULD BE GREAT. I was really — really into Prima when I was a little kid- He was like my first love at 4 (or in Shouter terms my 1st pretend boyfriend) ha. Zooey would be great as Smith —I would love that.

I wonder if Grace knows she’s been toss aside yet.

Great pick for the new pretend girlfriend, shouter!! She is beautiful; looks like a young Audrey Hepburn. Really like her on “Border” also. Will have to check out “Weeds”. Hope Grace can pick herself up once she finds out she’s been dumped.

I do think that the next time Shouter is getting the itch for a new pretend girlfriend that he should cast Sara Bareilles in the role for awhile.

    Ditto on the Sara.

Love Song and Gravity are muey beuno.

What’s with the misguided assumptions that I can only have one pretend girlfriend?

    BIG LOVE

Yesterday, I saw Ginnifer Goodwin at my local co-op. Take from that what you will.

Does Macy’s tell Gimbels?? OK Shouter, let me rephrase — when you are ready to add another to your harem consider Sara! If I’ve kept a good record of your diaphanous dream girls you could create a really interesting band. Then you could pimp them on indie.

I love this voice. Zooey seems to get into the music in a way that K.T. Tunstall says is rare. In this interview K.T. says that she never gets away from having a female voice; and that a man can be part of the music, but a woman’s voice always sits on top. She mentions Cat Power as an exception. (Maybe this genre doesn’t fit her thesis, but it made me think of her comments.)

Love Leon Redbone, too, especially his “Up a Lazy River” album.
