Kired: You’ve probably hit on why I often feel out of place here. I never liked rock music and deliberately avoided certain artists, Stones included. Also, I’ve been busy, and that has limited the amount of music I’ve been exposed to. I have to really care about it to listen to it, and don’t want it in the background like some kind of soundtrack. But I love it here, and I’m learning, and I have found new music thanks to here, so it's worth the feeling out of place. BTW, I appreciate that you answered my question.

Music,
try this version - don't always care for Jagger's voice when it has to carry the song but do like him in this cut - the video is not good - better to just listen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEJStYhi_3M

Found that one when trying to understand why Dave Matthews is such a big deal - there is a Tube of him and Mick doing Wild Horses . . . . . . I'll take WH & GP - not even a contest !

Shouter,
you win - as you usually do - two 6 hour drives in 3 days provides a lot of "music cocoon" time - a few artists, Joplin for example, I enjoy so much more when wrapped in their sound with no other auditory distractions - similar to the effect of a live concert I suppose - on a hunch stopped at Borders and picked up Grace's "This is Somewhere" - it stayed in the player for most of the rest of the trip - - - - -

Would love to go to Warren’s XMas Jam. Can't make another trek out
East this year. I'm sure it will be another good concert.

Grace Potter and Gov’t Mule do a very powerful version of Wildhorses.

Well, of course I like the Stones. Of course I like Mick Jagger. And, of course, I'm trying to "get" GP.

I like the Stones' songs, just can't bear Mick Jagger's singing. I think Grace makes the Govt. Mule version. She evokes a Kim Carnes vibe on that, for me.

The Xmas Jam is gonna rawk, me thinks.

It's just that the Stones, especially the stuff they were writing way back, were pretty f'n awesome. They were bringing a rock infused blend of road house blues to the masses. They laid some ground work for much of what we love today.

I guess I would expect someone on this blog to really like the Stones. Well early Stones.

Well, it was nice almost, sorta, kinda chatting with you. The ride I’ve been waiting for is downstairs now. Guess it’ll have to wait until Monday to see if you answer my question. By personal (not economic) choice, I don’t have the internet at home.

Yes, it's working now, and was worth the wait. But why is it interesting that I sort of liked the Stones version?
